Celebrating Leadership and Community with FemCity Nashville

On October 2, 2026, our FemCity Nashville community gathered at Wildroot Farms for an evening hosted by Laura Huston, owner of Belle & Bottle. We came together to celebrate outgoing President Marlena Karlsson and her two years of leadership while welcoming our new President, Tamara Block. Marlena has helped create a space where women business owners can connect and support one another. It was awesome to celebrate her contributions and welcome Tamara into her new role.

I also enjoyed catching up with Anne Muchine, Quinna Oceanna Water, Melissa Mooney-Lopez, Precious Bridges, Meghakanya Bradley, and Shannon Pfile. And, of course, there were plenty of pictures! With that many businesswomen in one place, I think we had approximately 47 phones capturing the same moments.

When I first started my business, I didn’t think much about networking or going to in person events because I was busy. Driving an hour or two to a networking event was not a top priority. However, the longer I worked by myself, I realized I missed genuine human connection and was eager to find someone who understood what I did and what it was like to run a business.

That's when I found FemCity Nashville. I walked into my first meeting knowing absolutely no one. Today, some of the women I've met through FemCity have become lifelong friends.

One of those women is Makena Delaney. Recently, I needed clothes for a client event, and anyone who knows me knows I HATE shopping. I called Makena for help, and without hesitation, she started asking when I was available. Before I knew it, we were on a shopping spree!

It's a small example, but that's what I love about FemCity. I joined hoping to connect with other businesswomen and ended up finding friendships that extend far beyond business. And those connections aren't limited to Nashville. FemCity has chapters across the country and virtual membership opportunities, making it possible to build relationships wherever you are.

If you've been thinking about how to create more room for professional relationships, community involvement, or simply the opportunities you'd like to pursue, I'd love to hear what that looks like for you!
